The Alberta Henry papers. 1946-2000.

Papers consist of files which detail Alberta Henry's work as president of the Salt Lake City branch of the NAACP and as a minority consultant for the Salt Lake County School District. Also included are the records of community organizations of which she was a member, as well as the records of the Rainbow Honor Society, a multicultural student organization which she founded.

Alberta Henry was born in Hosston, Louisiana and was raised in Topeka, Kansas. She moved to Salt Lake City in 1949, married Harold Henry in 1950. In 1965, she founded the Alberta Henry Education Foundation, which provides college scholarships to underprivileged students. She was a teacher's aide at the first Head Start Center in Salt Lake City and later became the parent coordinator. In 1972 she became a minority consultant for the Salt Lake County School District.
