Typed reminiscence of Hugh Lewis, a Madison, Wis. native who served as a navigator and observer with the 80th Troop Carrier Squadron during World War II. Entitled, "My War Apr '42 - Oct '45," the reminiscence contains family history and his military service experiences such as the Nashville Classification Center, primary flight training school, wash out as a pilot, and success in navigation. Also includes details about the squadron's missions as a part of Normandy, Operation Market Garden, and Dragoon. There are four photographs associated with the collection. Two images are of the C-47 airplane, "Honey Bun." Of interest, are two photographs of a German Mistel, one of several composite aircraft originally conceived by Siegfried Holzbauer in 1941. The two images have a FW-190 on top of a war-weary JU-88 which was filled with explosives and released to crash into a target by the lighter fighter plane.
