New York City orders to pay, 1793-1794, 1799-1800.

Orders, 1793-1794 and 1799-1800 from the Common Council to the Treasurer, Daniel Phoenix, ordering him to pay certain persons for their services to the city. These services included repairs to streets, work on walls, pumps, and sewers, lamp lighters, city watchmen, election clerks, public whipping, conveying vagrants to Bridewell, and other expenses. Most are signed by Richard Varick.
