Gardner A. Sage papers, 1836- ca. 1882.

Correspondence and papers, 1836- ca. 1882. The collection contains 46 New York City survey books, 1836-1855, as well as general correspondence and papers, mostly concerned with New York City real estate. Some of the papers belong to Sage's brother, William Harris Sage, and deal with his activities as real estate agent for Lewis C. Jones and Woodbury Langdon. Gardner A. Sage's papers include deeds, releases, rent accounts, mortgages, fire insurance policies, bankbooks, visiting cards, papers about regulating and grading the city streets, papers relating to the Empire and Waverly Stage Line in the 1850s, and specifications for installing a steam heating system in the New Brunswick Theological Seminary. There is also a large group of papers, including legal documents, dealing with the affairs of the South Dutch Reformed Church, in Washington Square.
