Records, 1786-1799. They consist of a letter book, 1786-1795, a receipt book, 1789-1793, and a collection of bills and orders received, and bills of exchange, 1788-1799. The letter book contains their letters to merchants in England, Jamaica and the United States, discussing orders for imports such as window glass; general commercial matters; trade conditions; the embargo of 1794 and seizure of ships. Frequent correspondents include Malcolm Ross, of London, Alexander Longlands, of London, and Longlands and Smith, of Jamaica. The receipt book records expenses for freight, Russia duck, tar, anchors, provisions, pitch, work at their rope walk, etc.
