Diary, 1830-1831.

Diary, December 1830 - January 1831, describing a business trip to England. He writes about the voyage from New York to Liverpool, discussing fellow passengers and incidents on the voyage. In England he travels to Manchester, Leeds, Rochdale, Dewsbury, Bradford and Birmingham, and describes meetings with members of the American business community in the north of England, including Alexander Henry, John Jackson, and Mrs. Arthur Lupton. He also describes the Liverpool to Manchester railway, and comments on local customs and conventions. The diary ends with his arrival in London, after a narrow escape from injury in a runaway coach.
