Records, 1923-1964 (bulk 1923-1938).

Records, 1923-1964 (bulk 1923-1938), mostly kept by W. Johnson Quinn, the club's secretary and treasurer. One volume in the collection is a photograph album for a club dinner held at the Hotel Commodore, December 18, 1925; two others document the club's activities in 1923-1928, and 1928-1933. Four boxes also contain material documenting the club's activities, ca. 1930-1938. The material includes correspondence, invoices, accounts, photographs, clippings, menus and other ephemera. The club gave regular dinners for its members, as well as occasional dinners for guests of honor, including hoteliers from Germany, Italy, and England. The collection includes menus for these dinners, as well as clippings about them from newspapers and hotel industry magazines. There is also a wooden paddle, which held the menu for a dinner on February 14, 1929. Sometimes they planned outings further afield; the documents recording an unsuccessful attempt to organize a trip to Bermuda include ephemera from the Furness Bermuda Line. On at least one occasion, the club gave financial help to a member in difficulties, and they regularly gave wedding gifts to members' children. The club's financial records are included. There are also clippings about individual members, including obituaries, and typescipts of speeches honoring members, including one honoring Raymond Orteig for sponsoring the prize won by Charles Lindbergh for his transatlantic flight.
