Papers, 1743-1775.

Papers, 1743-1745, consisting of a logbook, a daybook, and an account book. The logbook, 1743-1747, records service on H.M. Sloop Launceston in 1743; as captain of the sloop King Solomon, on trading voyages between New York and Jamaica; and as captain of the sloop Elizabeth, on trading voyages between Amboy and Barbados. There are some accounts at the back of the volume related to these trading voyages. The account and memoranda book records personal and business expenses in London, Amsterdam, Barcelona, New York City, and elsewhere, as well as expenses of the brig Charming Sally, of which he was captain, and records of purchases for Charles Nicoll and others. The daybook, April, 1774 - July, 1775, records sales of spirits, sugar, tea, and other provisions, as well as accounts with pilot boats.
