Diary, April 1, 1823 - August 22, 1823, kept probably by Peter S. Townsend, but perhaps by his brother Samuel Townsend. It contains brief entries about various purchases and other personal and financial matters, an inventory of books belonging to the writer's father, Solomon Townsend, and a note of the death of his mother, Anne Townsend, with details of her will, and notes on the administration of her estate.
