Diary, 1837 Mar.-1838 Jul. and 1862-1883, of Mary Lorrain Peters Overmann of New York City, kept by her as a young woman, before her marriage to Henry John Overmann, while attending the Grove Hall School, a private girls academy in New Haven, Connecticut; while attending Picot's French school in Philadelphia; and while staying with her family in New York City. Later entries include miscellaneous biographical and genealogical notes, and an account of her trip to Germany in 1865-1866.
