Daybooks, 1716-1741, 1763-1764.

Two daybooks, 1716-1741 and 1763-1764. The earlier book was kept in New York City until 1720, then in New Jersey, and records sales of loads of wood, stone, lime, skins, meal, planks, freight for bricks, etc. The later daybook, kept at Second River (N.J.), records sales of staves, fabrics, groceries, housewares, etc., and credit for sales of loads of wood at New York. Both books include records of transactions with other members of the Van Cortlandt family; the earlier one also records some transactions involving the estate of Stephen Van Cortlandt's mother, Gertruyd Schuyler Van Cortlandt.
