Account books, 1839-1855 and 1856-1895, kept by an unidentified resident of Glen, Montgomery County, New York. Entries record purchases and sales of a range of goods, including grain, butter, livestock, molasses, sugar, cloth, produce, meat, etc. Individual accounts for employees record days worked, expenses, time lost, and cash paid out in wages. Also included are accounts for the estates of John Van DeBeer, John Edwards and Garret Enders, in addition to treasurer's accounts for the Glen Cheese Factory, along with accounts for the rental of horses. Of particular note are three rough pencil diagrams with specifications for the construction of a barn, house, and plow. Individual accounts include employees Aaron Davis and Jacob Newkirk; along with entries for Joseph Hart, Peter Simmons, John Van Debeer, Garret Enders, John Gafney, John H. Davis, various members of the Van Derveer and Quackenbush families, and many others.
