Harris containing newspaper and magazine clippings, illustrations, political cartoons, and correspondence pertaining to the sinking of the steamship Lusitania and his survival of the historic disaster. Included is a 13 page letter from Harris in Dublin to his mother describing the event and his ordeal as a passenger.

The Lusitania was a British ocean liner that was sunk on May 7, 1915 by a German U-boat off the southern coast of Ireland; 1,198 passengers and crew died. The Cunard Line launched Lusitania in 1906. When RMS Lusitania left New York for Britain on May 1, 1915, German submarine warfare was intensifying in the Atlantic.
