Autobiography, 1903-1905.

Manuscript autobiography by Harriet Stewart Judd, written by the author, 1903-1905, and covering the years 1822-1872. Judd's autobiography describes her early life in the towns of Hartland and, later, Lockport, New York; her education in Albion New York and her activities as a teacher there and in Rockford, Illinois, her marriage to Orange Judd in 1855 and his activities as editor and publisher of the "American Agriculturalist", their life together in Flushing, New York, her husband's involvement with the United States Sanitary Commision during the Civil War, and his gift of Hall of Science to his Alma Mater, Wesleyan University. She additionally recounts a trip the couple took to Petersberg and Richmond in 1865, a European trip taken in 1867, and trip West in 1869. The autobiography additionally includes genealogical information for the Stewart and Reynale families of New Jersey and a number of obituary notices for Ms. Judd clipped from various papers.
