Account book, 1854-1857, of the ship "Italy" on a whaling voyage from Greenport, Long Island under the command of Frederick A. Welds, recording advances to crew, and accounts of disbursements at Lahaina, Hawaii; Cook Islands; Nukahiva, Marquesas Islands; and at the termination of their voyage in Honolulu, with notations recording desertions where relevant. Included are documents related to crew member Norman C. Roberts, a minor from Adams, Massachusetts, whose father, Daniel, assigned the boy's earnings to Jerome B. Jackson as payment for land in Adams.
