What might have been expected : album, 1837-1870.

Album of verse, reminiscences, photographs, and miscellaneous writings about "Willowbrook," the home of Enos Thompson Throop Martin, on Owasco Lake, near Auburn, New York, and various events and persons connected with it, kept by Martin's daughter, Cornelia Eliza Martin. Numerous photographs include images of the house and grounds and portraits of acquaintances and members of the Martin family. Text includes transcribed copies of Martin family correspondence and lengthy descriptions of marriages and Christmas celebrations held at the Martin home, including an account of the marriage of Emily Martin and Emory Upton written by Grenville Tremaine, as well as a description of his own marriage to Lily Martin. Guests at "Willowbrook include Warren Hatch, John Van Buren, and members of the Ten Eyck, Throop, and Quackenbush families, among many others.
