Letterbook, writings, and a pamphlet of Evangelides' (1864-1869). Ca. 40 letters are mostly in Greek and include correspondence with William Cullen Bryant concerning Evangelides' position at the New York Customs House. The undated writings are in English and pertain to the fable of the female pope Johanna; they consist of an essay and what appears to be parts of one or more works of fiction based on the legend. The small pamphlet is in Greek and is about the lyceum his father opened in Athens.

The New York Custom House was established in 1799 by the United States government to regulate New York port and harbor activities.
