Memorial of Debbieg to King George III outlining his plans for the defense of the Isle of Wight (1788?). Includes a copy of his letter to William Pitt, dated Oct. 14, 1786, discussing French military build-up at Cherbourg, threat to Portsmouth, limitations of Plymouth as a harbor and advantages of Portsmouth, importance of the Isle of Wight, necessity of defending it, defensive measures which should be taken, defense of Chatham Dock Yard, etc. Also a copy of a second letter to Pitt, who did not answer the first.
