Letter book and waste book, 1762-1768.

Letter book (June 1766-Aug. 1767) of Henry and John Cruger contains copies of their business correspondence with merchants and firms in Europe, the West Indies, and elsewhere (130 p.). Entries relate to thier import and export trade, trade conditions, and instructions to shipmasters. They traded primarily in West Indies products such as logwood, mahogany, rum, and sugar. Many pages have been torn out of this volume. Waste book (June 28, 1762-Jan. 15, 1768) contains accounts with persons and firms plus accounts of voyages to the West Indies, Bristol, Amsterdam, Quebec, Virginia, Ireland, and Africa. Entries pertain to items of trade as well as marine insurance, refitting ships, etc.
