Cartwright's diaries kept while a young man in Belmont, N.Y. He writes about local activities, school, employment, his efforts to get into and subsequent attendence of Phillips Andover Academy in Massachusetts, fees and costs of school, etc. The first volume covers May 1, 1883-May 6, 1885 (196 p.), the second covers May 7, 1885-Sept. 28, 1885 (143 p.). Includes list of letters received, 1886, on the last few pages of the second volume and a loose letter from E.N. Pond dated Sept. 18, 1887.
