The collection consists of correspondence and papers, mostly 1750-1800, including some pertaining to his father, Nicholas Bayard, Sr. (1698-1766), and to his grandfather, Col. Nicholas Bayard (1644-1707). The papers include bonds, deeds, releases, receipts, wills, agreements, etc. Many also involve various members of the Rutgers family, as well as prominent New Yorkers of the period.
