The collection consists of a modern copy (ca. 1901) of Dr. Anderson's diary (1793-1799); correspondence (1793-1870), including 17 letters to his brother, John Anderson, and 82 letters to his daughter, Julia Malvina Halsey (Mrs. Vincent M. Halsey); memorandum book (ca. 1791); list of patients under medical care at Bellevue Hospital during 1795-1797; and a manuscript, "A Medical Grammar," with 3 pen and ink drawings by Dr. Anderson relating to his medical practice and his interest in engraving. There is also a volume of wood illustrations mounted in a scrapbook, all of which were engraved by Ann (Anderson) Maverick, his daughter.
