Untitled story [Fishin' Jimmy], 1889?.

Undated handwritten manuscript written on stationery with the letterhead "Cheney Brothers, South Manchester, Conn.," about a man named Fishin' Jimmy (James Whitcher). The story is set near Franconia, N.H., where Fishin' Jimmy lives closely with nature and undergoes conversion to Christianity. He dies at the end of the story from injuries sustained while searching for two boys lost in the mountains. Comparing the manuscript with the published version of the story shows that the published story was substantially revised from the manuscript.
