This collection (1965-1997) contains biographical information, audio cassettes, computer software, slides, reports, journals, published and unpublished papers, class notes, and award materials. Many of the materials in the collection reflect Dr. Fanslow's interest in children's nutrition, family and consumer sciences education, and household financial management. A game ("What I Eat") developed by Dr. Fanslow is housed in the University Archives Artifact Collection. The game was designed to encourage children to choose nutritious foods.

Alyce Fanslow was born on February 28, 1935. She received a B.S. (1957) in home economics education from the University of Minnesota and an M.S. Iowa State University first established coursework in "domestic economy" in 1872. The first instructor was Mary B. Welch, wife of University President, Adonijah Welch.
