Manuscript copy of letters written by Congregational minister Rev. Samuel Kirkland to his former teacher Rev. Eleazar Wheelock of Lebanon, Connecticut, 1767-68. Letters pertain to his missionary work with the Oneida Tribe of the Iroquois Confederacy (also called Six Nations) in New York, and include descriptions of his experiences while living with the tribe, theological discussions, and prayers. The location of the original letters is unknown. Also includes a photostat copy of the manuscript transcriptions.
