The letters also request and acknowledge the receipt of lists of names of potential students who might wish to receive a catalog. In addition, the collection includes a letter from Samuel Gastrock to his sister, Amelia Gastrock Fackler, requesting a loan.

Samuel Gastrock, a resident of Linglestown, Dauphin County, attended First Pennsylvania State Normal School, also known as Millersville State Normal School, from 1892/1893 through 1895/1896 and in 1898/1899. He graduated with the Class of 1899 and was a member of the Page Literary Society while a student. Upon graduation, it was announced that he would teach, but in the years following the alumni association always listed him as traveling. His permanent residence was in Linglestown. ...
