Herbert S. Gay was born in Saginaw in 1880. He worked at one time for the Flint & Pere Marquette Railway. He was active in Saginaw civic affairs, serving as an alderman, city clerk, postmaster, and as a deputy county clerk. He married Laura Johnson in 1902. He died in 1953.
