Cicero Coleman was born in Fayette Co. KY, October 7, 1833. His parents were Horace and Nancy Coleman, natives of Virginia. In 1862 he enlisted in the Confederate army as Lt. Col. in the 8th KY Cavalry, in Gen. Morgan's command. He participated in Morgan's raid into Ohio in 1863, was captured at Cheshire, OH, and imprisoned at Johnson Island, the Ohio Penitentiary and Fort Delaware. In 1867, he married Eva Fields.
