General description of the collection: The William H. Duncan papers consist of an unpublished biographical manuscript about Douglas Treat Davidson. It includes a narrative of his education, military service, and post war activities which highlights the duties of a regimental surgeon in an airborne unit and his travels with the unit. The appendix includes copies of LTC Davidson's Silver Star citation, a list of abbreviations used, extracts from medical training manuals, maps, references, copies of annotated photos, orders, unit roster for the 502nd Airborne Infantry Regiment, and operational memos.

Lieutenant Colonel (LTC) Douglas Treat Davidson was born on 3 July 1912 in Philadelphia, PA. He was commissioned in the Army Medical Corps through the Organized Reserve Corps while in medical school at the University of Pennsylvania. He was called to active duty in March 1941 at Fort DuPont, DE and trained at the Medical Field Service School, Carlisle Barracks, PA.
