Papers, 1854-1923.

These papers contain Commodore Ten Eyck De Veeder's correspondence, official papers, and subject files. The official correspondence concerns the various firms Veeder dealt with while carrying out the installation and inspection of electric lighting plants. The personal correspondence in the collection comes from Charles Deering, a classmate of Veeder's at the U.S. Naval Academy. In the official papers are some of Veeder's fitness reports, leave of absence papers, duty orders, and promotion and retirement papers. The subject files include reports, correspondence, and other items arranged by subject. Finally, there are two notebooks from Veeder's time at the Academy and two from his midshipman cruise on Tuscarora.
