Papers, 1917-1920.

Strott gathered this collection of papers during his service with the 6th Regiment of the U.S. Marine Corps at Quantico, Virginia in 1917, on the Western Front in 1918, and as part of the German occupation force in 1919. The papers are primarily composed of copies of general orders and official memoranda that were issued and distributed to the American Expeditionary Forces on the Western Front during 1918 and 1919. There are also a few documents that deal with various medical subjects of concern to the 6th Regiment's Regimental Surgeon. Among the three personal letters are two in German. The third is a 1920 letter of appreciation from Brigadier General Harry Lee. A small group of memorabilia, including newspaper clippings, programs for Independence Day and the anniversary of the Battle of the Aisne-Chateau Thierry Sector, leave passes, and form "letters home" issued during the war is present as well.
