Scrapbook, 1910-1914.

This collection contains a short biography of Irving Loveland written by his son, postcards, and Loveland's college scrapbook. The scrapbook contains over 130 images, mostly of Iowa State College (University) campus buildings and student activities dating from 1912 to 1914. Included are photographs of many of the fraternity houses near campus, interior shots of the Latauma fraternity house, and numerous shots of students on campus and at the fraternity house. There are also images of St. Patrick's Day celebrations (1913-1914), May Day festivals (1912-1913), the Chemistry Hall fire (1913), and the Engineer's Campfire (1912). There are also several dance cards, programs and other college memorabilia.

Irving E. Loveland graduated from Dows High School in Iowa in 1909. He graduated from Iowa State College (University) with a B.S. (1914) in electrical engineering. He was a member of Latauma fraternity (which became Chi Phi in 1922, and was defunct by 1936). His first job was superintendent of the General Electric dynamometer plant in Schenectady, New York. On March 22, 1948, Iowa State College (University) sponsored a 90th anniversary celebration in honor of the founding of the college, which occurred on the same date in 1858 when the charter act establishing a state agricultural college became law.
