Thomas Jefferson Farnham emigrated overland to Oregon in 1839 as a member of the Peoria Party, serving as captain. He spent some time at Fort Vancouver and wrote about Oregon, before traveling to the Hawaiian Islands. He died in San Francisco, California on September 13, 1848.
