Statement regarding gift of wampum, and correspondence with Israel Chapin, 1797, 1799.

Statement accompanying string of wampum given by the sachems of the Seneca Nation to Col. Jeremiah Wadsworth on the occasion of the Treaty of Big Tree, 15 Sept. 1797. Also, letter written on behalf of the Tuscarora Indians by Israel Chapin, 27 Jan. 1799, requesting an enlargement of their reservation, with reply from Cazenove, 31 Jan. 1799, stating that his successor as agent for the Holland Land Company, Paul Busti, will receive instructions to grant the Tuscarora a second mile square as originally promised, to be laid out by Joseph Ellicott, surveyor.
