Account books, 1801-1815.

French was a merchant at 43 Long Wharf, involved with the West Indies trade and trade with Bangor, Maine, where he later settled. He was also part owner of the schooner Ranger, which was outfitted as a whaler. Account books provide a detailed daily record of receipts and expenditures and commercial activity centered around Boston Harbor. The account books include the years of the Embargo of 1807-1809.
