Carol and Dwight Myers papers, 1920-2000.

The Carol and Dwight Myers Papers contain scrapbooks, albums, letters and images of New Mexico, books and authors. All of the series reflect the Myers' lifelong love of New Mexico and its history, and books and those involved in the New Mexico book scene. Encompassed in the collection are original layout pages for In Celebration of the Book, as is material relating to the publication of the book which celebrated the 10th anniversary of the New Mexico Book League. The collection also consists of a few personal items, and a video recording of Dwight Myers' memorial service. Also present is material, including a pamphlet written by Dwight, on John D. Rittenhouse, a fellow book loving friend. The Dawson, New Mexico material contains images, newspapers and video collected by the Myers relating to the town and its history. Carol Myers graduated from Dawson High School in 1946. The almost 400 photographs of Dawson, New Mexico in the collection show the town from 1920-1926. Other images in the collection include scrapbooks of murals and libraries of New Mexico. Not present in the collection are the records of the New Mexico Book League, founded by Carol and Dwight Myers, which is its own collection in the Rio Grande Historical Collections.

Dwight A. Myers was born November 24, 1931 in Jamestown, NY. The Myers family resided in New York state until 1939 when they moved to California. Dwight began his university education at the University of Redlands in Redlands, CA where he meet Carol, a native of Dawson, NM, and his future wife.
