Byron Harvey III collection.

This collection was donated to the Heard Museum by Byron Harvey III in May, 1988. The collection includes correspondence between Mrs. Ollie Yarlott and Reba Garwood from 1909 to 1921. Ollie and her husband Frank lived in Montana where he was employed by the Crow Agency. Many of Ollie's letters to Reba make reference to small gifts exchanged between them, including rocks and wood taken from "Custer's Battlefield". In another letter, dated December 26, 1921, Ollie refers to the discovery of oil about 50 miles from the Crow Agency which has brought construction of a new railroad to "have the oil to market". Other letters include a miniature rug and shovel, dried plant material, and two small photographs of Alice Yarlott. This collection also includes three 7" x 9" tinted photographs of Native Americans and a stereograph image from 1903 entitled "An Indian Family at Niagara Falls." A matted 8x10 black and white photograph of Byron Harvey III and five 3x4 color glass slides are also included.
