The collection consists of drafts for Rothenstein's Twenty-four Portraits, first published in 1920. The portraits are by Rothenstein, the text by various hands; Rothenstein exerted editorial control of the text, as evinced by the numerous annotations he has made in the various drafts. Includes draft essays on Dean Inge, Lord Haldane, Sir James Frazer, Sir Edward Elgar, Granville Barker, Thomas Hardy, H.G. Wells, A.E. Housman, John Galsworthy, Joseph Conrad, and Max Beerbohm.
