Ronald Reginald Van Stockum served in the United States Marine Corps from 1937 until he retired as a Brigadier General in 1969. He later pursued a second career as an administrator at the University of Louisville. He was active in the community and served on the city's Armed Forces Committee and on the Board of the Filson Historical Society.
