Record group RG 84-54 consists of records of Michigan requisitions, commutations, pardons and paroles for the years 1862-1949. The requisitions (1862-1949, MF 5735-5736) are form appeals from the governor of Michigan to another chief executive requesting that a person who committed a crime in the former's jurisdiction be apprehended and delivered to a Michigan agent for return to this state. Includes name of offender, type of crime, and name of agent. Commutations (1906-44, MF 5737) provide name of warden and prison having custody of criminal; name of individual having sentence commuted; offense and court of trial; term of sentence; and date of commutation by the governor. Pardons (1891-1942, MF 5737-5738) offers name of convict; offense and court of trial; sentence; and date of action by governor. Paroles (1895-1921, MF 5738) gives name of warden and prison having custody of criminal; name and number of individual being paroled; name and residence of sponsor of "first friend;" and date of governor's action.
