McCrae, Jr., as well as children by Frederick H. McCrae's previous marriage, Malcolm L. McCrae and Thomas P. McCrae. Bill of sale, 9 Aug. 1735, [typescript, written in French], re property valued at 15 pounds in Purrysburgh, S.C., sold by Louis Deville to Peter Laffitte; will of Stephen Smith, 26 Aug. 1789; Smith family Bible records; and records of claims due George Robison, William Robison, and Joseph Vince for Revolutionary War militia service and supplies. Genealogical correspondence with D. Graham Copeland, Laura Bellinger Jones, and information gathered by Martha McCrae on Best, Dunbar, Hext, Laffitte, and Vince families; letter, 11 Apr. 1915, from Joseph V. Laffitte, Dalton, Ga., re his Confederate military service in Co. I, Fifth Regt., Alabama Volunteer Infantry, enclosing bullet with which he was wounded at Gettysburg, Pa. Legal document, Barnwell District, S.C., Court of Common Pleas summons, Mar. 1811, for division of property, John Badger and wife, Elizabeth Colding Badger v. Jacob Hittles and others; moot court program, 8 Mar. 1923, University of South Carolina Law School; printed program, Charleston, S.C., "Artists and Models" revue featuring "eighteen Gertrude Hoffman Girls," with local advertisements [undated, ca. 1920s]. Undated essay, "What Chemistry Means to the South," by J.L. McCrae, Bailey Military Academy (Greenwood, S.C.); also including letters to Julia and Elizabeth McCrae as students at Winthrop College; sympathy letters, 1920-1921, upon the death of Mary McCrae, daughter of F.H. and Martha McCrae; and correspondence re estate of Mabel Gray Best (d. 1960). Photographs include Julia McCrae's graduation from Winthrop College; Davidson College campus and Charlotte, N.C.; Elizabeth McCrae with husband Joe Crayton; Martha and F.H.
