Edward C. Lingafelter was a professor of chemistry at the University of Washington. He was born in 1914 and received a B.S. (1935) and a Ph.D. (1939) from the University of California at Berkeley. In 1939 Lingafelter joined the faculty of the University of Washington, where his research concentrated on the use of x-ray crystallography to study the structure of inorganic metal complexes.
