Letter : Paris, 1854 Apr. 9.

The letter is one handwritten signed sheet, written on both sides, originally folded in half to make four pages. The correspondent is unidentified and the signature appears to be Ed. Lartet or E. Lartet. Lartet discusses the dentition, teeth and jaws of Dichodon cuspidatus, Hyopotamus vectianus, H. bovinus, and other fossil mammals from Eocene locations in England reported by Richard Owen in articles in Vol. 4 of The quarterly journal of the Geological Society of London (1848). Lartet also refers to Cuvier's system of classification, mentioned in one of the articles.
