Includes accounts of Buffalo during the War of 1812, including the "mobbing" of Ralph Pomeroy's hotel, the burning of Buffalo in December, 1813, and the role played by Seneca chief Farmer's Brother. Also, sketches about Seneca chief Tommy Jimmy's journey to England in 1816, Capt. Jedediah Rogers, who commanded the Walk-in-the-Water and other early Great Lakes steamboats, and early hangings in Buffalo.
