Waggoner, Josephus B. Diary. 1862.

Cpl. Waggoner, 8th Iowa Infantry Rgt., records his experiences as a prisoner of war at Camp Oglethorpe, Macon, GA, from July - Nov., 1862. He gives a physical description of the prison and details on the harsh treatment of the prisoners. Diary also mentions prisoner escapes and lists names and addresses of fellow prisoners. He briefly mentions travels following his release to Camp Benton, MO, where his regiment is reconstituted.
