Record group RG 81-62 consists of records of the Michigan Board of Osteopathic Medicine and Surgery for the years 1923-1966. The Board minutes consist of attendance roll call of members, election tally of members that are candidates for offices of the Board, medical licenses issued to doctors, list of annual fees paid by doctors, plus investigation of doctors' alleged abuse in areas of medical practice, narcotics, and alcohol addictions. The last part of the record group lists the name and addresses of doctors receiving their certification from the Michigan Osteopathic Board. Also includes administrative rules and regulations that were adopted by the Board for self-governance.

The Michigan Board of Osteopathic Medicine and Surgery was created by Act 162 of Public Acts of 1903. The Board was created to provide licensing and examinations of persons prior to engaging in the practice of osteopathic medicine and surgery, and also, to provide penalties for the violations of the acts.
