Journals and field notes relating to the construction of the Eastern and Central divisions of the Fort Kearney, South Pass, and Honey Lake Wagon Road that were received in the Office of the Secretary of the Interior in 1857-1859. The road went from Independence, Mo., to Fort Thompson (at present Lander, Wyo.) via Forts Kearny (Neb. Territory) and Laramie (Neb. Territory, present Wyo.) Includes rough notes of travel of advance party under W. H. Wagner, chief engineer, from Bellemont, Kan. Territory (Doniphan County), to Oroville, Calif., 1859.

The Alaska Public Works Program was authorized during the 81st Congress through the Alaska Public Works Act, Public Law 264.
