Lafayette Escadrille scrapbook, 1914-1917.

Scrapbook in French and English kept by Harvard graduate and pilot Frazier Curtis, 1914-1917, pertaining to a group of American pilots serving in the French Army during World War I called the Lafayette Escadrille (later became United States Aero Squadron, 103rd). The scrapbook includes clippings pertaining to the Lafayette Escadrille, American, British, and French aviation programs, and World War I; letters received by Frazier from the United States Navy, British Royal Naval Air Service, and French Aviation Corps, among others; telegrams; photographs; postcards; and printed items. Photographs include images taken in Pau, France of Frazier and fellow pilots Elliot Cowdin and Norman Prince with Penguin Practice Planes, the mayor of Pau Cerle Anquiois, and a passport photo of Gladeys Curtis. Also includes clippings and printed items pertaining to the Harvard Flying Corps.

Born in Jamaica Vermont. Entered business in Boston during the 1840's, where he mastered the intricacies of silk trade.
