The collection consists of nine items, including seven letters, a manuscript, and an author's note page. The letters include: My dearest Madam, 29 Sept. 1885, thanking her for a review and commenting on the controversy her book caused; three to Lady Wolseley, June 1888, describing her life in Italy and poor health; to publisher John Lane, 16 Aug. 1904, offering her new book of essays, The Enchanted Woods, for publication; two to Mrs. Davidson, 1912, describing a visit. Also, a signed note, 1916, concerning her book, The Ballad of Nations, and her view on war; a manuscript copy of her essay, Proteus, The Future of Intelligence, 1925, on lined paper, essentially similar to the published version but with some corrections.
