Scope and Contents: The first volume is important as a complete set of 64 lectures by Cruikshank and Baillie. Fordyce volume bears the inscription of George Mather, probably the notetaker. The set is also unusual in that the notes were most likely taken during the lectures themselves, rather than the notes offered by professional scribes. Seven sections include the topics blood, arteries, veins; "absorbents"; muscles; bones and teeth; reproduction; viscera; circulation of blood and digestion; viscera pathology; brain and sensory organs; brain and nerve pathology. Scope and Contents: The second volume contains another complete set of 64 lectures by Fordyce on chemistry, practice of physic, and materia medica. Perhaps the only known set of Fordyce notes on materia medica.
